Roles and Responsibilities:
As an Azure Data Engineer specializing in Azure Synapse, you will be responsible for designing,
implementing, and maintaining data solutions leveraging the Azure Synapse Analytics
platform. Your primary focus will be on building scalable and efficient data processing and
integration pipelines, optimizing data storage and retrieval, and ensuring data quality and
security. You will collaborate with data architects, data scientists, and other stakeholders to
understand their requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Design, develop, and deploy data integration pipelines using Azure Synapse Analytics.
2. Build and optimize data storage structures, including data lakes, data warehouses, and
data marts.
3. Implement data ingestion and extraction processes, ensuring efficient and reliable
data movement.
4. Develop and maintain ETL/ELT workflows and data transformation logic.
5. Collaborate with data architects and data modelers to design and implement data
schemas and models.
6. Monitor and troubleshoot data processing and integration issues, ensuring data quality
and consistency.
7. Implement security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with
regulations.
8. Optimize data processing performance and scalability using Azure Synapse features
and capabilities.
9. Work closely with data scientists to enable advanced analytics and machine learning
on Azure Synapse.
10. Stay up-to-date with the latest Azure Synapse Analytics features and technologies and
provide recommendations for their adoption.
Basic Technical Qualifications :
● Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or
equivalent experience).
● Strong experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT development, and data integration
using cloud-based platforms.
● In-depth knowledge of Azure Synapse Analytics, including its components, features,
and capabilities.
● Proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Python or Scala.
● Experience with data modeling and schema design.
● Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and data security best practices.
● Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex data requirements.
● Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-
functional teams.
● Azure certifications related to data engineering (e.g., Azure Data Engineer Associate)
are a plus.
● Familiarity with other Azure services such as Azure Data Factory, Data Warehousing
