As the Executive Editor- for Harrison’s print and digital enterprise you will be reporting to the Senior Publisher of Medical Content and will be responsible for Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine, Harrison’s Online, Harrison’s Manual of Medicine, Harrison’s Self-Assessment and Board Review, Harrison’s Podclass, and our new mobile-first digital initiative Harrison’s Bedside Learning. These products produce more than $15 million in direct and indirect print and digital revenues, and HPIM is one of MHE’s most important and successful brands.
This is a critical position and can help drive millions of dollars in new revenues for the company. Harrison’s is a multi-component print and digital enterprise with a very strong global presence. In addition to the Harrison’s brand, the Executive Editor will oversee the General Internal Medicine and Hematology/Oncology lists, both print and digital. The Executive Editor will take an active role in the AI strategy for the Professional Product Team.
This is a remote position open to applicants within the United States and requires up to 10% travel for the year.
What you will be doing:
Set strategic course for the print and digital components of Harrison’s enterprise.
Assume direct oversight and responsibility for Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine, Harrison’s Manual, Harrison’s Podclass, and Harrison’s Self-Assessment and Board Review.
Work with the external Harrison’s editorial board and market contacts to identify the future shape of HPIM and to identify new product extensions for the brand.
Manage a new position to be hired for the operational execution of Harrison’s Bedside Learning, a new and major digital initiative.
Manage the general internal medicine and hematology/oncology product lines, both print and digital.
Work closely with MHP domestic and international sales and marketing teams and the MHP User Services team in support of Harrison’s growth and new opportunities.
Take an active role in AI creation of content, specific to Harrisons. This will include creating High Yield Key Points and Learning Modules from each chapter in Harrisons.
Creative problem solver in terms of identifying voids in the market and creating product/content to fill those voids.
Ability to “think out of the box” in terms of how to generate new content from Harrison’s through AI and what the deliverables should be.
Ability to analyze new product lists and create a Pub Plan for both print/digital.
Oversee the Harrisons Product line, which is $15 million in revenue.
Manager the Non-HPIM Revenue -$1 million in revenue annually.
Oversee Access HemOnc (print and digital oncology products --$1 million.
Publish 5-7 titles a year with a projected LOE revenue of $1 million.
